Azofed Injection is an antibiotic used to prevent or treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This may include infections of the urinary tract, blood, brain, ear, skin, and soft tissue, abdomen, bone, windpipe and lungs.Azofed Injection is given as a drip (intravenous infusion) or as an injection directly into a vein or a muscle under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.Rash, vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea may be seen as the most common side effects. Temporary pain, swelling, and redness at the injection site may also occur at the injection site. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or if your condition does not improve despite treatment.Inform your doctor if you have any previous history of allergy or heart problems before taking this medicine. Alcohol: Consuming alcohol with Azofed Injection does not cause any harmful side effects. Pregnancy: Azofed Injection is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies. Breastfeeding: Azofed Injection is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby. Driving: Azofed Injection does not usually affect your ability to drive. Kidney: Azofed Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Azofed Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advised while you are taking this medicine. Liver: Azofed Injection is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease.
